Youth Programming
Registration for Futures Academy
WHA provides support for neighborhood youth residing in the Great Brook Valley and Curtis apartments by offering afterschool homework assistance with the goal of improving academic performance through skill development and targeting individual student needs. Futures Academy offers small-group and one-on-one tutoring for students who require additional support in their education. Enrichment programs will be offered weekly, providing students with the opportunity to explore a variety of educational and skill-based activities to create a fun and engaging learning environment. Students are provided with a snack and dinner daily. Futures Academy is held at 35 Freedom Way, Monday through Thursday from 2:30pm to 5:00pm and is available for youth in grades 2-6. Transportation assistance is provided for Curtis Residents to and from the program. Interested residents can register online, or call 508-635-3306.
Kids Club Boys & Girls Club of Worcester
This program provides after-school programming on site, as well as opportunities for transportation to the main Boys & Girls Club site to participate in boxing and swimming activities. They also have special activities, like Fun Fridays, Dance, Cheer, Board Games, Pool Tournaments and Celebrate the Youth of the Month. There is an annual club membership of $25. Kids Club serves children ages 5 -12 from 2:30pm until 5:30pm Monday through Friday. To register, please go directly to 180 during Club Hours to meet with program staff and complete registration materials and orientation. Summer Camps
Each summer, WHA offers a Summer Camp Programming that provides youth the opportunity to stay active, learn, and have fun during the school break. The program is contracted through local community summer camps, allowing resident youth to take part in a variety of options and engaging summer time activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games, educational projects, and field trips.
Information about upcoming camp sessions and registration details will be shared in April for the following summer and through community announcements.
Basketball Program
WHA offers basketball activities for youth residing in the Great Brook Valley Neighborhood. Boys and Girls in grades 4 -8 are connected with a team and practice and compete against each other. Some of our youth are selected to participate on a traveling team with the opportunity to compete statewide. Interested residents may sign-up at the gym during open hours of 3pm- 7:30pm daily and Saturdays from 10am – 2:30pm.
LUK Mentoring Program
LUK Inc. is a nonprofit multiservice agency dedicated to improving the safety, health and emotional well-being of youth, families, and adults. As a community-based organization, LUK offers an array of child and family services throughout Central Massachusetts. The LUK Mentoring Program pairs caring, concerned role models with youth who will benefit from additional support.
